Jason Day pens emotional letter to 12-year-old self in Players' Tribune
Jason Getz / USA TODAY Sports
Jason Day's journey to No. 1 in the world is a stirring and inspirational tale. And he told that story for the Players' Tribune, as expressed in a letter to his 12-year-old self, who had just lost his father to cancer.
Here's a snippet from his emotional entry:
Since your dad passed … a lot has changed. You were there - actually, physically there. You watched him die. At 12 years old, to sit down and try to digest what happened … you haven't been able to. You're not going to be able to.
And that's fine. That's natural. But just know that this part will not be easy. This part will hurt, a lot.
Day tells his story from his father's passing to becoming a professional golfer, a father, and a major champion at last in 2015 in this must read.
