Canada's Dunfee poses with rival at closing ceremony

Evan Dunfee got to be a flag bearer after all.

At Sunday's closing ceremony, the Canadian race walker posed and traded items of national pride with Japanese rival Hirooki Arai, who was awarded the bronze medal in the 50km walk following appeals by both competitors.

Arai originally won the medal before Dunfee was awarded it on appeal, but Arai got it back following a counter-appeal.

Dunfee then opted not to continue the process, saying he'd "sleep soundly" with the fourth-place ruling and couldn't in good conscience accept the medal if he got it back.

Several Canadian athletes and officials made the case for Dunfee to be closing ceremony flag bearer, an honor that ultimately went to quadruple medalist Penny Oleksiak.
