U.S. swimmer Ryan Lochte had a very Ryan Lochte response to being robbed at gunpoint by individuals posing as police early Sunday morning.

The gold medalist, who along with three teammates is confirmed to be safe following the ordeal, described to NBC's Billy Bush exactly how it went down.

"(We) got pulled out in our taxi and these guys came out with a badge, a police badge. No lights, no nothing, just a police badge. They pulled us over, uh, they pulled out their guns. They told the other swimmers to get down on the ground, they got down on the ground. I refused. I was like 'We didn't do anything wrong so I'm not getting down on the ground,'" Lochte told Bush, according to NBC News' Peter Alexander.

"And then the guy pulled out his gun, he cocked it, put it to my forehead and said 'get down.' I was like (puts hands up) I put my hands up. I was like 'whatever.' He took our money, he took my wallet..."

With a gun to his head, in the middle of the night in a foreign nation known for violent crime, Lochte's response was one word.

"Whatever."

Cold-blooded.

Lochte added that thieves took his cash but not his cell phone or Olympic credentials.
