Watch: Melo gets custom mural in Rio slum

While his Team USA compatriots were bonding over beach volleyball Monday, Carmelo Anthony watched as a mural of himself was spray painted in a Rio slum, documenting the process on Snapchat.

"This was on my bucket list, to be honest with you; specifically to go to the favelas - forever," he later told Sam Amick of USA TODAY Sports. "I just always wanted to see and experience that. Growing up in Baltimore, and knowing what that was like, in my own favela, you know what I mean? So I wanted to go and experience that for myself. I wanted to touch that."

Anthony, who also played basketball with kids while he was there, posted this photo of himself sitting on a chair at the center of it all:

USA Basketball's all-time leader in Olympic scoring mentioned that the only other person featured there in a mural is Michael Jackson.

The love is real for Grandpa Melo and the "King of Pop" in the favelas.
