Report: NHL looking into Stempniak's spear on Gostisbehere
MSG
It was an up-and-down third period Saturday for Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Shayne Gostisbehere.
Shortly after establishing a new NHL record for rookie defensemen by scoring to extend his points streak to 11 games, Gostisbehere took a spear to the midsection from New Jersey Devils forward Lee Stempniak.
The NHL's Department of Player Safety is looking into the incident, reports Tom Gulitti of The Record.

Stempniak was not assessed a penalty on the play. Gostisbehere left the game momentarily, but eventually returned.
