Aleksander Barkov will be glad that his second-period blunder didn't cost the Florida Panthers the game Sunday.

After Barkov gifted Detroit Red Wings forward Dylan Larkin with the game's opening goal, the Panthers scored late in the third period and again in overtime to top the Red Wings 2-1.

Reilly Smith got the Panthers back into the game with just over five minutes remaining in the period, deflecting a Brian Campbell point shot past Petr Mrazek, while seeming to run a little interference in front.

Just 1:20 into overtime, Campbell walked in after receiving a pass from Jonathan Huberdeau and rifled a wrister past a partially screened Mrazek.

Goaltender Roberto Luongo stopped 28 of 29 shots directed his way to pick up the win. Luckily for Luongo, the game did not need to extend to the shootout, which must have come as a relief following his charade with the skills competition Friday night.

Meanwhile, Mrazek picked up a hard-fought loss, admirably making 30 saves on 32 shots.
