Ryan Getzlaf casts shade on Coyotes fans
The Anaheim Ducks lost to the Arizona Coyotes in front of an announced crowd of 11,578 in Glendale on Wednesday, and Ryan Getzlaf pointed to the empty seats as a reason why his team came out flat.
Ducks Ryan Getzlaf said this: "Its hard when you come into a building that's dead. Nothing against the fans. It's hard to fill a big bldg."

"You have to be ready when you step out on the ice and I thought we came out flat," Getzlaf added.
The Coyotes jumped out to a 2-0 lead before Anaheim got on the board in Arizona's eventual 4-2 victory. The Coyotes held the edge in both shots on goal and total attempts. It marked the third time Arizona has beaten the Ducks this season, with the previous two victories coming in California in front of less than capacity crowds.
Date | Result | Attendance | % of Capacity |
---|---|---|---|
Oct. 14 | Coyotes 4 Ducks 0 | 15172 | 88.3% full |
Nov. 9 | Coyotes 4 Ducks 3 (OT) | 13864 | 80.7% full |
The win gives the Coyotes a surprising three-point advantage over the Ducks in the Pacific Division, with two games in hand to boot.
Meanwhile, Anaheim continues to struggle to the tune of an 8-11-4 record, and will need to come up with other ways to come out flying in order to salvage the season.
