Angela Ruggiero on Hall of Fame induction: I hope people watching are inspired

Angela Ruggiero wants her entrance into the Hockey Hall of Fame to be a source of motivation.

"I hope people that are watching tonight are inspired, because I think I'm a testament that anything's possible," she said during her induction speech Monday night. "If you think you can or you think you can't, you're probably right."

The 35-year-old former defender won four consecutive Olympic medals with the U.S. national team from 1998 to 2010, capturing gold in 1998.

She won four gold medals at the World Championships and was named the tournament's top defender four times before retiring in 2011.

Ruggiero became the fourth woman to be inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame, following Cammi Granato and Angela James (2010), as well as Geraldine Heaney (2013).
