If you want something done right, you have to do it yourself.

Toronto Maple Leafs president Brendan Shanahan emerged from his perch in the stands and hit the ice Monday at the team's practice, suit and all.

"I don’t know if he came out of the ceiling or what," forward Brad Boyes told Mark Zwolinski of the Toronto Star. “But yeah, he has a few years of experience, we were working on some secret plays."

The 46-year-old joined Boyes, defenseman Scott Harrington, and goaltender James Reimer to provide shooting pointers.

"He (Shanahan) was watching from somewhere and I guess something caught his eye," Boyes said. "We talked about a lot of things, being in the corners, shooting, angles, the power play. It was all interesting."

Shanahan scored 656 goals in 1,524 career games, so if someone is going to preach goal-scoring, he's probably the right man for the job.
