The 24-year-old is under the care of team doctors, Canadiens spokesman Donald Beauchamp told The Montreal Gazette.
Montreal police spokesman Manuel Couture told the publication that a 20-year-old woman was driving the truck, which reportedly ran into a tree in the residential neighborhood of Notre-Dame-de-Grace around 6 a.m. ET Sunday.
Couture said speed did not appear to be a factor in the crash.
Kassian was acquired by the Canadiens in a July 1 trade with the Vancouver Canucks for forward Brandon Prust.
