Brandon Saad will have to put his Columbus Blue Jackets debut on hold.

The forward took a puck to the mouth in practice Monday and won't suit up for either of Tuesday's preseason split-squad games against the St. Louis Blues, according to Aaron Portzline of The Columbus Dispatch.

Saad was acquired from the Chicago Blackhawks during the offseason and signed a six-year, $36-million contract extension with the Blue Jackets.

He recorded 23 goals and 29 assists in 82 regular season games last season, adding eight goals in 23 playoff games en route to a Stanley Cup championship.
