The Colorado Avalanche have signed forward Mikhail Grigorenko to a one-year contract.

The Denver Post reports the deal is worth $675,000.

Grigorenko was acquired from the Buffalo Sabres as part of the return for Ryan O'Reilly.

The 21-year-old - a first-round pick in the 2012 NHL draft - was a restricted free agent.

Grigorenko has struggled in 68 career games, posting 14 points, but hopes to turn things around under the tutelage of Patrick Roy, who coached him in the QMJHL.
