Report: Predators' Ribeiro, former nanny reach settlement in sexual assault case
Nashville Predators center Mike Ribeiro and his wife have reportedly reached a settlement with a former nanny who made sexual assault claims against the veteran forward.
A court-appointed mediator filed a report Wednesday stating the two sides settled the suit following an eight-hour mediation session on July 6, reports J.R. Lind of the Nashville Post.
"This civil matter has been amicably resolved without incurring further time-consuming and potentially costly litigation," Ribeiro's attorney, Brian Lauten said.
"I am unable to discuss any of the elements of this confidential resolution," he added. "Mike looks forward to continuing to play hockey at a high level and looks forward to aggressively pursuing a Stanley Cup alongside his teammates. The Ribeiro family will not have any further comments on this matter."
The Predators are aware of the settlement.
"The organization understands Mike Ribeiro has resolved his civil case," the team said in a statement Thursday. "We are pleased that Mike and his family can focus on their future and we will have no further comment."
Nashville agreed to terms with Ribeiro on a two-year, $7-million contract on July 1.
