Anaheim Ducks forward Nate Thompson will be going under the knife Thursday.
The 30-year-old will have shoulder surgery to repair a nagging injury, the team announced Wednesday.
Thompson suffered the injury back in April in a game against the Arizona Coyotes. The ailment kept the forward out during their first-round playoff series against the Winnipeg Jets.
Meanwhile, captain Ryan Getzlaf is recovering from a sports hernia, but unlike Thompson, will not require surgery. Instead the 30-year-old will rehab over the summer, according to Eric Stephens of the Orange County Register.
