Canadiens apologize to Senators fan who was harassed at Bell Centre

The Montreal Canadiens have apologized to an Ottawa Senators fan who was harassed at the Bell Centre on Friday.

Katie Kerrick, a Senators fan, was verbally and physically abused by a man almost 10 years older than her in Game 2 of the Stanley Cup playoffs, according to CBC News.

The organization was alerted of the incident on Twitter and used the social media site to reach out to Kerrick and extend apologies.

The man and a friend whipped Kerrick and her sister, Annie, with towels, purposely spilled beer all over them and used derogatory slurs.

When Kerrick told the man to stop, he continued.

"And he said, 'F--king whore' and continued to do it," she said.

When she and her sister got up to go to the bathroom, they were followed down the aisle and whipped with towels. The women informed security, but all the attendant did was mock them.

"So what do you want me to do?" security said. "Give them a mean look?"

Kerrick is normally a Habs fan, unless the Sens are in town. But from this point on, she's lost respect for the fan base she grew up with.

"I used to like the Canadiens but I can't honestly say that anymore," Kerrick said. "I love all hockey. But now, especially the Sens."
