Stars' Daley could be out weeks after being kneed by Islanders' Martin

Matt Martin may soon find himself in hot water with the NHL's Department of Player Safety.
The New York Islanders forward received a five-minute major and was ejected during the first period of Tuesday's game in Dallas following this knee-on-knee collision with Stars defenseman Trevor Daley.
Daley left the game and did not return.
Stars head coach Lindy Ruff updated Daley's status following the game and said the defenseman could be out weeks.
Lindy Ruff on Matt Martin hit: "That's just a suspension..We've already lost our best forward, now we've lost probably our best defenseman."

Daley is in the midst of a career year, having recorded 16 goals and 33 assists while averaging 23:30 of ice time.
A serious injury would almost certainly sink the Stars' fading playoff hopes, despite the win over the Islanders.
