Report: Todd Bertuzzi reaches out to Senators in search of AHL tryout offer

Todd Bertuzzi isn't quite ready to call it a career.

Representatives for the veteran, unrestricted free agent forward have reached out to the Ottawa Senators in search of a professional tryout offer that would see him attempt to work his way back to the NHL through the club's AHL affiliate, according to Bob McKenzie of TSN.

Bertuzzi, who will turn 40 in February, spent the past four seasons playing for the Detroit Red Wings, and recorded nine goals and seven assists in 59 games in 2013-14.

The veteran of 1159 career games, Bertuzzi scored 314 and added 456 assists.

Clearly he believes there's some gas left in the tank, but whether the Senators - or any other club - will test those wheels is yet to be determined.
