Maple Leafs' Franson: 'This is obviously where I want to be'

It may have to rain discarded jerseys before Cody Franson decides to bolt the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Playing in his fourth consecutive contract season since coming over from the Nashville Predators, Franson is hoping his next round of contract talks will result in more of the same.

"This is obviously where I want to be. But first and foremost, we will worry about being a more consistent team and a winning team," Franson told Sportsnet 590 The Fan. "When the team does well, individuals tend to find success within that and that's the way I am approaching it."

Franson has received three separate one-year deals since arriving in Toronto, but this summer appears to be the right time to cash in long-term.

He ranks 11th in points among NHL defenseman with four goals and 13 assists, and is the Maple Leafs' second option behind Dion Phaneuf, commanding nearly 28 shifts per contest.
