Canadiens to honor former captain Saku Koivu in December

The Montreal Canadiens will pay tribute to former captain Saku Koivu when the Anaheim Ducks come to town next month.

The Canadiens announced Friday they will honor Koivu before the game on Dec. 18.

Koivu retired in September after 18 NHL seasons spent with the Canadiens and Ducks. He served as Canadiens captain from the 1999-2000 season until 2008-09.

He scored 255 goals and added 577 assists in 1,124 career regular-season games, adding 59 points in 80 playoff games.
