Canucks' Henrik Sedin gives stick to young fan hit by puck

Late in the second period of Friday night's game in Edmonton between the Vancouver Canucks and Oilers, a young hockey fan - who was sporting a Canucks sweater - was struck by a puck.

As the fan, who appeared to be bleeding, was escorted from the arena for treatment, Canucks captain Henrik Sedin passed the kid his game-used stick.

Here's the kid exiting the rink; you can see the stick already in the hand of arena security at the top of the screen:

Obviously the souvenir stick won't make the young fan feel any better in the short term, but it'll make for a cool story once the pain subsides.

Sportsnet provided an injury update on the young fan, whose name is Daniel and whose favorite player is conveniently Henrik Sedin, later in their broadcast. He appears to be no worse for wear, which is excellent news. Consider him day-to-day.

The young fan later joined the Canucks in the dressing room, where Henrik Sedin signed the stick he'd compassionately given him early in the evening:

That's really what it's all about.
