Jerome Miron / USA TODAY Sports

Winnipeg Jets forward Evander Kane left Thursday night's season opener against the Arizona Coyotes with a lower-body injury and will not return, the club announced

Kane, 23, only took three shifts on Thursday, finishing with just 84 seconds of total time on ice. After his second shift he collided with teammate Mark Scheifele and left the game after taking just one more shift.

A productive volume shooter, Kane missed 18 games during the 2013-14 season with a myriad of injuries including a hand infection and a lower-body injury.
