Long time Predator David Legwand goes to the wrong penalty box in return to Nashville
On Thursday night, Ottawa Senators forward David Legwand, who spent parts of 15 seasons in the Nashville Predators organization, proved that you can go home again - you just might find the entire experience rather disorienting.
Legwand, the first draft pick in the history of the Predators franchise, was traded to the Detroit Red Wings at the 2014 NHL Trade deadline, and signed with the Senators as a free agent. On Thursday night, in his regular season Senators debut, Legwand returned to the Bridgestone Arena in Smashville and was greeted with a raucous standing ovation from the Predators faithful in attendance.
The entire homecoming experience was obviously discombobulating for the American-born veteran center, and when he took a tripping penalty in the second period, his familiarity with his old stomping grounds showed through as he attempted to enter the home team's sin bin and had to be corrected by the official:
