Wedgewood has been assigned to AHL Albany to start the upcoming season, The Record's Tom Gulitti reports.
Analysis:
This isn't too much of a surprise, as Wedgewood entered camp as the No. 3 contender for the team's backup goaltending job behind Scott Clemmensen and Keith Kinkaid, one of whom will be joining him in Albany. Wedgewood, a former World Junior goalie for Canada, will see a good amount of ice time in the AHL and will likely be called up if the Devils sustain any injuries to their netminders.
