Odds to win the 2015 Stanley Cup following free agent frenzy

by Jul 3, 10:21 AM

This year's edition of free agent frenzy was in fact, crazy. Many expected the normal flurry of moves, but it was non-stop from 12 p.m. ET through 6 p.m. ET.

July 1 started with a bang, as the Ottawa Senators and Dallas Stars hooked up on a deal sending Jason Spezza to Dallas. When free agency opened, the Oilers spent big money on Mark Fayne and Benoit Pouliot, the Blues brought in Paul Stastny, the Capitals gave out huge contracts to Brooks Orpik and Matt Niskanen, Brad Richards went to Chicago and Jarome Iginla signed for three years in Colorado.

All-in-all, teams spent over $500 million on players on Day 1.

Who's odds changed the most? Oddly enough, the Blues odds didn't change from their original 12/1 odds after bringing in Paul Stastny. The Stars moved from 33/1 to 20/1 due to the Spezza deal, and the Caps moved from 33/1 to 40/1 even after spending to improve the defense.
