Surefire first-ballot Hockey Hall of Fame New Jersey Devils forward Jaromir Jagr will turn 43 during this upcoming hockey season, but he remains a bona fide top-line quality forward. This past season, he scored 24 goals and managed 67 points, so it's clear that he's not slowing down.
So what's Jagr's secret? It's not that the Czech legend has discovered the fountain of youth, it's just that he works really, really hard at his game. Jagr famously works out at all hours of the night, even during the all-star break, and he's notoriously secretive about his sessions.
Occasionally some details leak out though, as they have this past week on a variety of social media channels. It would seem that Jagr has been working out, and going through on-ice drills while wearing a weighted flak jacket, at a quiet Las Vegas rink.
Jay Ferrer managed to snap a photo with Jagr during one of these sessions - the Devils forward clad in sweat pants, a toque branded with Las Vegas Storm logo, and the aforementioned weighted vest:
Not only is Jagr working out in Vegas, and already in the midst of on-ice workouts in late July, but his sessions are apparently going late into the night:
So what's the secret to being a first-line caliber NHL forward well into your early 40s? God given talent and all of the elbow grease in Vegas, apparently.
