The short-lived, but acrimonious, Josh Gorges saga has come to an end.
The Montreal Canadiens announced on Tuesday that they've dealt the defenseman to the Buffalo Sabres for a second-round pick at the 2016 NHL entry draft.
The Canadiens reportedly had a deal in place for Gorges with the Toronto Maple Leafs, but that deal had to be scuttled when the dependable defensive defenseman refused to waive his modified no-trade clause.
"I want to be a leader on the team with all those good, young players and try to help out any way I can," Gorges told the Olean Times Herald on Tuesday. "If guys have questions, even just being a role model with how I compete. That’s what I want to do. But I want to do everything I can do to help that team win."
