Report: Kings' Jonathan Quick has wrist surgery; injury stems from Ducks series
Los Angeles Kings goalie Jonathan Quick had surgery Tuesday to repair an injured wrist, according to Yahoo Sports. The Kings confirmed the procedure.
The injury was reportedly suffered during the team's second round playoff series against the Anaheim Ducks.
Quick was to appear on-ice at a goalie camp in Connecticut, but parents who enrolled their children in the summer camp received an email saying that Quick was having "emergency surgery" on a wrist injury. The Kings later indicated that the surgery was not an emergency procedure.
The severity of the injury was not considered to be great, but a postseason MRI led to a reassessment of the damage and Quick went under the knife.
The expected recovery time is 10 to 12 weeks, and Quick is prohibited from making his way onto the ice during that time.
Quick won his second Stanley Cup with the Kings this past month, posting a 16-10 record with a 2.58 GAA and .911 save percentage in the postseason.
This upcoming season, Quick will enter the second year of a 10-year, $58-million contract.
