Overview:

The son of Hall-of-Famer, and noted humanized-howitzer Al MacInnis, Ryan MacInnis doesn't patrol the point like his father. Instead he's a big, talented two-way centerman with good speed, a high hockey I.Q and solid playmaking skills. Surprisingly, MacInnis doesn't have a next-level shot, something he'll have to work on as he moves into the next level of his career (it might become easier once he adds bulk to his lanky frame).

The 18-year-old finished 10th in OHL rookie scoring with 37 points in 66 games, and was part of the American team that won a bronze medal at the 2013 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge, notching two goals and five points in six games.

Scouts are saying

"A responsible, two-way center with a very good hockey IQ; he sees the ice and anticipates very well to generate scoring chances," Director of NHL Central Scouting Dan Marr said of MacInnis. "He's a good playmaker but just needs to work on his shot and shoot more often."

"He improved over the second half of the season with his mobility and speed to position himself to create more offensively, be on the attack and shoot really well," NHL Central Scouting's David Gregory said. "I think Ryan has handled himself very well considering who his dad is. I give him credit for playing under that spotlight and continuing to work on his game.

"I think he's got a bright future and I like his upside."
