Islanders GM Snow interested in re-signing Evgeni Nabokov as backup goaltender

After the New York Islanders announced the team signed goaltender Jaroslav Halak to a four-year contract Thursday, general manager Garth Snow told Arthur Staple of Newsday that he has had "good conversations" with Evgeni Nabokov's agent about the veteran returning to the team as a backup.
The 38-year-old spent parts of the last three seasons on Long Island; in 2013-14, he posted a save percentage of .905 and recorded four shutouts. His career save percentage sits at .912 in 686 games with the Islanders and San Jose Sharks.
Nabokov earned $3.25-million on a one-year deal with the Islanders last season, and will likely take a substantial pay cut on his next deal, whether it be with the Islanders or elsewhere.
