Ryan Callahan's agent: 'There's always the temptation of July 1st'
Tampa Bay Lightning executive Steve Yzerman has said of two-way forward and pending unrestricted free-agent Ryan Callahan that the team would "love to sign him." But it takes two to tango, and it sure sounds like Callahan is interested in surveying the field before selecting a dance partner.
"There's always the temptation of July 1st," Callahan agent Steve Bartlett told the Tampa Bay Tribune this week. "You don’t get that many times in your career, especially at the peak of your career. Those are what you have to balance, the positive and all the good things he knows about Tampa, and what is his right, you have the opportunity to at least hear other people. That doesn't mean Tampa wouldn't be his first choice."
The dreaded double negative - never a good sign for a pending UFA's current employer.
