Sharks' Logan Couture: 'Hockey moms are extra special'
When his hockey career's over, San Jose Sharks forward Logan Couture could follow in the illustrious footsteps of theScore's Justin Bourne and become a writer.
Couture wrote a special piece for USA Today on Sunday, Mother's Day, to tell the world that "hockey moms are extra special."
Take it away, Mr. Couture:
At some point in your life, you realize that your mom is different from other moms. Early on in my young hockey life, I learned that hockey moms are extra special.
They give up a lot their free time for their children and spend a lot of time in cold rinks. When you think of a hockey mom, you think of one wearing mittens and drinking coffee, and being at all of the practices and hockey games. That's the picture that comes to my mind when I think of my mom and of other hockey moms. ...
My mom means the world to me. I definitely wouldn't be where I am today, as an NHL player and as a person, without her. She gave up so much of her life to get me to where I am and I really truly appreciate everything she's done for me.
Happy Mother's Day to my mom, Lori Couture, and to hockey moms everywhere.
He's right, you know.
Check out the full piece at USA Today, and buy your mom some flowers. It's the least you can do.
