Wild's Suter on controversial non-call: 'It was offside and they missed the call'

The Minnesota Wild were unhappy with the officiating late in regulation of their 4-3 overtime loss to the Colorado Avalanche in Game 5 on Saturday.

The Avalanche, down a goal with time ticking off of the clock, scored with just over a minute remaining in regulation. The problem? Their goal was the result of two controversial non-calls: an apparent holding penalty against Andre Benoit went uncalled, and an offside call appeared to have been missed on the sequence that led directly to PA Parentheau's game-tying marker.

"It was offside and they missed the call," Wild defender Ryan Suter told Chad Graff of the Pioneer Press after the game. "It's a damn shame."

Added Wild forward Zach Parise: "Something about it didn't feel right. It felt like they had too much of a step on that play." Maybe that's because they did?

Wild coach Mike Yeo, however, took the high road and refused to criticize officials or focus on the bounces.

"To sit here and dwell on it, I don't think it's going to do us any good," the serene Wild head coach told reporters. "Obviously frustrating, obviously disappointing."
