Canucks F Zack Kassian suspended 3 games for hit on Stars D Brenden Dillon
The National Hockey League has levied a three-game suspension on Vancouver Canucks forward Zack Kassian for a hit on Stars defenseman Brenden Dillon during Thursday's game in Dallas, according to the Department of Player Safety.
Brendan Shanahan breaks down the fact that Kassian appears to track Dillon and drive him into the board with "significant force" as the basis for the suspension. Also, the angle of his skates suggests Kassian made no effort to slow down or avoid making contact with Dillon.
Kassian is considered a repeat offender, which also factored in the decision.
The forward will be eligible to return for Vancouver's game against the Washington Capitals on March 14.
