Pickard was scratched from Saturday's start against the Sabres.
Analysis:The reason for his scratch from the start remains unclear, but it's possible he's involved in some trade talks and it was to protect him from suffering an injury. Pickard's next chance to return to the cage comes Tuesday against the Flyers, but if he were to get dealt, Jeremy Smith would likely take over in the crease with another recall on tap.
