Flyers' Claude Giroux: Will require hip surgery
Giroux will undergo hip surgery next week, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reports, adding that he's expected back for the World Cup of Hockey, which starts Sept. 17.
Analysis:
The report specifies that it's a hernia. Either way, this might explain why Giroux struggled versus the Capitals in the first round of the playoffs, recording just one point and a minus-2 rating in six games. He looked bogged down on the ice and only managed 10 shots in the series. We'll keep you posted on Giroux's status once he officially goes under the knife and begins the rehab process.
