Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch appears to be planning to walk away from the NFL.

Lynch has told people close to him that he has decided to retire, sources told Adam Schefter of ESPN.

The 29-year-old's teammates are attempting to convince him to reconsider his decision, but he remains intent on retiring, reports Schefter.

Lynch battled through an injury-ravaged season, struggling with a hamstring issue early in the year before his season was cut short because of an abdominal injury that required surgery.

Seahawks general manager John Schneider said in January that he believed Lynch was "leaning towards" retirement after nine seasons in the NFL.

Lynch flirted with retirement after last season, but ultimately signed a two-year extension with Seattle.
