Miami Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill emerged from Sunday's loss to the Indianapolis Colts with what appears to be a relatively minor ankle injury.

Head coach Dan Campbell told reporters Monday that Tannehill is day to day and he expects him to be ready for next week's regular-season finale against the New England Patriots.

The early optimism is a good sign for Tannehill. He'll likely play if healthy, but it also wouldn't be much of a surprise if he was held out to avoid the risk of further injury.

Sitting at 5-10, Miami was long ago eliminated from playoff contention for a seventh consecutive season.

Tannehill hasn't lived up to expectations despite starting all 15 games, throwing for 3,848 yards, 22 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions.
