The New Orleans Saints picked up Kai Forbath off the kicker scrap heap less than two weeks ago.
With ice water running through his veins, Forbath capped off an insane and impossibly thrilling affair between the Saints and New York Giants on Sunday afternoon, drilling a 50-yard field goal as time expired to give the Saints a 52-49 victory.
Tied at 49 in the waning moments of the fourth quarter, a face-mask penalty by Giants punter Brad Wing put the Saints within field-goal range, allowing Forbath to unleash his dramatic winning boot.
