Report: Patriots work out Cortland Finnegan

The New England Patriots worked out free-agent cornerback Cortland Finnegan on Wednesday, reports Rand Getlin of NFL Network.

Finnegan recently expressed an interest in joining a new team to continue his playing career despite having announced his retirement in March, and this is the first visit he's known to have taken since.

The two sides didn't reach an agreement at the conclusion of the meeting, according to Getlin, but Finnegan would certainly be an option for New England should the team turn to the open market in addressing a lack of cornerback depth.

Finnegan spent the first six years of his career with the Tennessee Titans before joining the St. Louis Rams from 2012-2013 and the Miami Dolphins for the 2014 campaign.

He started in 111 of his 128 regular-season games over that span, recording 18 interceptions and earning one Pro Bowl nod.
