Johnny Manziel taking 2nd-team reps behind Josh McCown at Browns OTAs

As expected, Johnny Manziel appears to be facing an uphill climb in earning the starting job as he enters his second season with the Cleveland Browns.

With the Browns adding veteran quarterback Josh McCown in free agency, Manziel was relegated to second-team practice reps when the club kicked off another stage of OTAs on Tuesday.

There's still plenty of time for him to make the most of his on-field potential and make the necessary improvements before the regular season gets underway this fall, but sitting behind McCown on the depth chart for now is likely necessary given his struggles as a rookie.

Manziel started two games for the Browns toward the end of the 2014 campaign, completing just 50 percent of his pass attempts for 112 yards and two interceptions before being forced from the second contest with an injury.

Holding out hope that Manziel can be the answer to the club's longstanding issues at the quarterback position, however, look for the Browns to give him every opportunity to win the starting job in training camp.
