Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo was the recipient of a lifetime achievement award last week and he closed his speech by promising to achieve the one thing he's been unable to thus far in his life: winning a Super Bowl.

"This award is very meaningful to me, mostly because I get to be associated with this and to be associated with Nancy," Romo said upon receiving the Nancy Lieberman Lifetime Achievement Award, which is given to an individual whose work with the Basketball Hall of Famer's foundation has been exemplary.

Romo added: "It's incredible and I really appreciate you, and we're going to win a Super Bowl next year. Thank you."

Romo's Cowboys came as close to a Super Bowl run last year as they have in his nine-year run as starter, losing to the Green Bay Packers in the Divisional Playoffs on a contested Dez Bryant non-catch.

Romo proved many of his doubters wrong over the course of the season, providing stable play and avoiding the costly errors that have plagued him throughout his career. His 113.2 passer rating in the regular season led the NFL.

That said, making promises about the Super Bowl is rarely a wise move (unless your name is Joe Namath).
