Cowboys plan to move Sean Lee to weakside linebacker

Sean Lee hasn't been able to stay healthy and the Dallas Cowboys are taking measures to make sure that changes.

Executive vice president Stephen Jones said the team is planning to try Lee at weakside linebacker this season.

Lee has been an effective player for the Cowboys in the middle, but the undersized 28-year-old's body hasn't been able to sustain the pounding. He missed the entire 2014 campaign with a torn ACL and has only managed to suit up in 17 games over the past three years.

The Cowboys would then need someone to fill Lee's role. Rolando McClain did an admirable job last season, but Dallas hasn't been able to re-sign him yet. Jones indicated on Tuesday that they are still trying to do so.

One of the benefits to moving Lee to the outside would be his coverage skills. He's one of the few backers in the league that isn't a liability trying to stick with athletic tight ends.
