The Jacksonville Jaguars are taking a chance on a veteran running back.

Jacksonville claimed Bernard Pierce off waivers Thursday from the Baltimore Ravens.

Pierce was released by the Ravens on Wednesday following a DUI arrest.

The three-year veteran was mainly used as a backup with the Ravens, totaling five touchdowns during his time in Baltimore.

Adding Pierce gives the Jags some insurance for starter Toby Gerhart, who struggled to stay healthy in 2014.

It's a relatively risk-free move, as Pierce has one year remaining on his deal and is only owed $660,000 for 2015
