Cowboys apply franchise tag to Dez Bryant

The Dallas Cowboys have applied the franchise tag to Pro Bowl wide receiver Dez Bryant, the team confirmed Monday.

Mike Garafolo of FOX Sports was the first to report the news.

The move comes as no surprise, as Cowboys vice president Stephen Jones told FOX Sports on Saturday that the team would likely tag Bryant. If Bryant signs the tag, he will be in line to earn $12.823 million in 2015.

Bryant is the third reported player to be tagged ahead of Monday's 4 p.m. ET deadline, following Kansas City Chiefs outside linebacker Justin Houston and Denver Broncos wide receiver Demaryius Thomas.
