They all took their best shot at Chris Johnson's legendary 40-yard dash record of 4.24 seconds - and they all came up short.

J.J. Nelson came closest, dropping a very impressive time of 4.28 seconds. Nelson was the only wide receiver prospect to run sub-4.30 seconds, and likely gave his draft stock a boost because of it.

Phillip Dorsett, widely considered the most likely player to break Chris Johnson's record, mustered an impressive but not record-breaking 4.33. If not for a slight stumble in Dorsett's first attempt, Johnson's mark may have fallen.

Kevin White, who some analysts believe is the most athletically talented receiving prospect, gave his draft stock a nice boost with 40 times of 4.35 and 4.36.

Other Notable Performances

  • Amari Cooper, Alabama - 4.42 sec.
  • DeVante Parker, Louisville - 4.45 sec.
  • Dorial Green-Beckham, Oklahoma - 4.49 sec.
  • Devin Funchess, Michigan - 4.70 sec.

Amari Cooper and DeVante Parker both cemented their status as top receiving prospects with strong times in the 4.40s.

Dorial Green-Beckham's time of 4.49 will be viewed as excellent for a player of his size. If not for his major character concerns, Green-Beckham would be a slam-dunk top-10 pick.

Devin Funchess, on the other hand, turned in a time that will be viewed as a big disappointment despite his size. There's already talk among some in the draft community that Funchess doesn't have the speed to play wide receiver and should perhaps convert to tight end.
