Jaguars name Doug Marrone assistant head coach

The Jacksonville Jaguars hired Doug Marrone as their assistant head coach and offensive line coach, the team announced Tuesday.

Marrone spent the last two years as the Buffalo Bills' head coach before opting out of his deal after a 9-7 season in 2014.

While an assistant role with the Jaguars is a sizable step down for Marrone - he was thought to be a top candidate for head-coaching positions upon his departure - he'll play a key role in trying to get Jacksonville's offense headed in the right direction.

Ideally, the Jaguars would also be able to land one of the top coordinator candidates they've interviewed thus far, putting a solid staff in place to help develop quarterback Blake Bortles and the rest of their young offensive talent.
