Fantasy Footnotes: Matt Ryan and Julio Jones torch Buccaneers

Daniel Shirey / US Presswire

Every gameday during the regular season, theScore's fantasy editors recap the most important news and notes from around the league.

Falcons passing attack shreds Bucs

The Atlanta Falcons didn't miss Roddy White one bit on Thursday night, as Matt Ryan and Julio Jones led them to a rout of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Ryan finished 21-for-24 for 286 yards and three touchdowns before leaving the game in the third quarter with a 49-0 lead.

His favorite target, Jones, was also pulled early, but not before posting two touchdowns and nine grabs for a whopping 161 yards. The fact that White didn't play seemed to help Jones more than anyone, even with the Bucs trying to double cover him. Ryan ended up targeting him 11 times on the night.

Other Notable Fantasy Lines

Devin Hester, WR/KR, Falcons
1 catch for 25 yards, 1 carry for 20 yards and a TD, 1 Punt Return TD
Unlike the Bears, the Falcons seem intent to use Hester's talent on offense as well. Something to keep an eye on.

Steven Jackson, RB, Falcons
14 carries for 54 yards, 1 TD
Jackson looked better than he has in a while and if the starters weren't pulled because of the blowout, his numbers might have been even better.

Vincent Jackson, WR, Buccaneers
2 catches for 15 yards, 1 TD
A garbage time score saves a pretty quiet night from Jackson.

Mike Evans, WR, Buccaneers
4 catches for 52 yards
Evans was one of the few Tampa players that looked interested Thursday. He should become more of a focal point in the offense as the season wears on.

Bobby Rainey, RB, Buccaneers
11 carries for 41 yards, 7 catches for 64 yards, 2 lost fumbles
Without the late receptions it would have been a rough outing for Rainey. As it was, he failed to impress his coach with Doug Martin out of the lineup.

Injury Ward

Josh McCown, QB, Buccaneers
McCown left the game with a thumb injury to his throwing hand, which is never good. Keep an eye on his status in the coming days if you have him on your roster.

Harry Douglas, WR, Falcons
Douglas picked up a score in this one before leaving with a foot injury. With White already banged up and given his injury history, Douglas could have had some value going forward, but this latest injury puts doubt into that.

Waiver Wire

Mike Glennon, QB, Buccaneers
If McCown's injury is serious then Glennon could be an option if you're desperate. He filled in with a 17-for-24 night for 121 yards and a score. That's a typical Glennon performance, not great, but not terrible.

Eric Weems, WR, Falcons
He had four grabs for 69 yards Thursday and would be someone to look at if White and Douglas remain sidelined.
