  • Antonio Gates caught seven passes for 96 yards and three touchdowns, as the Chargers upset the Seahawks in Week 2. It was an unexpected performance, and the most recent sign that we wrote Gates off too soon. Sorry Ladarius Green owners, there's always next year.
  • Julius Thomas will try to replicate what Antonio Gates did against the Seahawks defense, but something tells me Seattle might make adjustments before their Super Bowl rematch with Denver. Thomas is still the second-ranked tight end and could give Jimmy Graham a real challenge for the top spot by the end of the year.
  • Zach Ertz is making the most of his targets, averaging 81.5 yards per game through two weeks. He won't challenge the elite players at the position, but Ertz could settle in as a top-5 fantasy tight end.
  • Niles Paul is only valuable as long as Jordan Reed is out, but that should be at least one more week. Paul showed great chemistry with Kirk Cousins, leading the team with eight receptions, 99 yards and a score in Week 2. He's a top-10 option against the Eagles.
  • It hurts to write this, but Larry Donnell is a legitimate fantasy tight end. He won't win you weeks, but Donnell can give you consistent production and that's all a lot of teams need from the tight end spot.
  • As Charles Clay gets healthier, his numbers will begin to rise. This week, he gets the Chiefs, who have given up the seventh most fantasy points to tight ends. Get Clay in your lineup.
  • Delanie Walker's 10-catch, 142-yard, one-touchdown game against the Cowboys in Week 2, is proof that we need to be asking, "which tight end plays Dallas?" every week. The answer this weekend is Jared Cook.
