Fantasy Footnotes: Darren Sproles carries Eagles; Colts turn to the ground game

Brian Spurlock / USA TODAY Sports

Every gameday during the regular season, theScore's fantasy editors recap the most important news and notes from around the league.

Sproles shreds Colts defense

Monday night's performance was what the Philadelphia Eagles envisioned when they traded for Darren Sproles in the offseason.

Sproles caught seven passes for 152 yards and added a rushing touchdown to go along with four carries for 26 yards. Chip Kelly seems to have found an effective way to find Sproles good matchups in the passing game.

The speedy back picked up the slack for the Eagles receivers, who were largely held in check. Among the wideouts, only Jeremy Maclin had more than a single catch.

Colts commit to the run

The Indianapolis Colts seemed set on getting Trent Richardson's confidence back, but they also worked Ahmad Bradshaw into the attack.

Richardson looked better than maybe any other game he's played with the Colts, running for 79 yards on 21 carries. However, he fumbled twice and lost one, and it's clear he still needs a high volume of carries to hit high yardage totals.

Bradshaw, on the other hand, looked sharp and finished with 70 yards on the ground and a pair of receiving touchdowns. He's going to be a key part of the backfield going forward.

Other Notable Fantasy Lines

Andrew Luck, QB, Colts
20-of-34 for 172 yards, 3 TDs, 1 INT
Had he not thrown for three scores it would have been a tough night. Luck rarely pushed the ball downfield and couldn't generate any big plays.

Hakeem Nicks, WR, Colts
1 catch, -4 yards
Nicks grabbed a touchdown last week, but one step forward, two steps back.

T.Y. Hilton, WR, Colts
6 catches, 65 yards
Even with the reliable Reggie Wayne on the roster, Luck still looks most comfortable throwing Hilton's way.

Reggie Wayne, WR, Colts
3 catches, 28 yards
Still looks like he's trying to shake off the rust from offseason ACL surgery.

Nick Foles, QB, Eagles
21-of-37 for 331 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT
His numbers could have been better if he wasn't the victim of some drops. Foles also missed a few open receivers on deep patterns.

LeSean McCoy, RB, Eagles
20 carries for 79 yards, 4 receptions for 23 yards
McCoy is still the man on the ground, but you have to wonder after Sproles' performance if he comes out on a few more passing plays here and there.

Jeremy Maclin, WR, Eagles
4 catches, 45 yards, 1TD
That's now touchdowns in consecutive weeks for Maclin and he and Foles seem to be building chemistry.

Zach Ertz, TE, Eagles
4 catches, 86 yards
Brent Celek was nonexistent in this one and Ertz is a far superior athlete. He has to be the main guy at tight end going forward.

Waiver Wire Targets

Ahmad Bradshaw, RB, Colts
If you are in a deeper league he's likely still available. The Colts seem to trust him more on passing downs and in the red zone given Richardson's fumbling.
