Steve Bisciotti defends Roger Goodell ahead of Ravens-Steelers game

Baltimore Ravens owner Steve Bisciotti defended NFL commissioner Roger Goodell ahead of Thursday's game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Both the Ravens and the NFL have come under fire for arguably mismanaging the Ray Rice investigation.

"If the allegations got to the league office, somebody failed in not getting it to Roger [Goodell]," Bisciotti said in an interview with CBS's James Brown. "As a man, I can't believe he saw that video and gave a two-game suspension. That's what makes it hard to believe."

Bisciotti was adamant that commissioner Goodell should not resign.

"This is an accusation from an anonymous source, trying to deflect blame from the police for being so light on them," he said. "Why would I take an anonymous person's word over someone I've known for 14 years."

At the end of the interview, Bisciotti showed some contrition.

"If Ray Rice ends up being the reason, and our Ravens' shortcomings become a reason to change the legal process and its shortcomings ... if this becomes a seminal moment for domestic violence and the way we handle it as a society, it's not a burden for us to become the poster boy," he said.

Bisciotti purchased the Ravens in March 2000.

"We can pray it's a moment in time that changes everything."
